Russkie Smashers INDIANA JONES "Trial of the Golden Guns" Chapter 2B

Cover art by Keith Pollard
Indiana Jones has accompanied the granddaughter of "Buffalo Bill" Cody to Ukraine (then part of the USSR) in her quest to recover her grandfather's pistols...
Plotted by Ron Fortier, scripted by David Micheline, penciled by Steve Ditko, and inked by Danny Bulanadi, this two-part tale from Marvel's Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #27 (1985) isn't officially "canon".

Speaking of Indiana Jones...our "brother" RetroBlogSecret Sanctum of Captain Video, ran the comic adaptation of Indy's first adventure, Raiders of the Lost ArkHERE
and is now running the comics-only sequel involving the golden idol that rogue archaeologist Belloq stole HERE!

Note: In July, Hero Histories will temporarily leave Russkie-Smasher mode as our annual RetroBlog Summer Blogathons begin with the re-presentation of the campy, never-reprinted...
...1960s The Shadow "costumed super-hero" series written by Jerry (Superman) Siegel and illustrated by Paul Reinman, and then segue into the re-presentation of the long out-of-print final "Maxwell Grant"-penned Shadow novel...
The Shadow: Destination Moon
But fear not, True Believers!
Russkie-Smashing will recommence after Labor Day!

Russkie Smashers INDIANA JONES "Trail of the Golden Guns" Chapter 1B

When Last We Left Our Favorite Globe-Trotting Archaeologist...

...(this cover by penciler Bob Budiansky and inker Bill Sienkiewicz doesn't occur until the end of the issue)
Indy agrees to aid Elizabeth Cody, grand-daughter of the legendary Old West hero "Buffalo Bill" Cody, to recover a pair of Buffalo Bill's revolvers stolen by a Russian, Count Alexander Salkovich...after the US State Department asks Jones to use the search as a cover to do a little "unofficial" spying for them!
Once in the Ukraine (at that point, part of the Soviet Union) they encounter a group of Cossacks led by Peter Rostoff who are willing to aid them in the pistols' recovery...provided they all can avoid capture by the Soviet Army, whose last encounter with Indy years earlier hadn't gone well...

As the caption says...

Russkie Smashers INDIANA JONES "Trail of the Golden Guns" Chapter 1A

...and while Indy did battle Russkies in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, we thought we'd present his other Russkie-smashing adventure!
Don't worry!
The Russkies will be here soon enough!
To Be Continued...
Next Monday!

See!
Russians!
And not just one, but two factions!
