Russkie Smashers INDIANA JONES "Trail of the Golden Guns" Chapter 1B

When Last We Left Our Favorite Globe-Trotting Archaeologist...

...(this cover by penciler Bob Budiansky and inker Bill Sienkiewicz doesn't occur until the end of the issue)
Indy agrees to aid Elizabeth Cody, grand-daughter of the legendary Old West hero "Buffalo Bill" Cody, to recover a pair of Buffalo Bill's revolvers stolen by a Russian, Count Alexander Salkovich...after the US State Department asks Jones to use the search as a cover to do a little "unofficial" spying for them!
Once in the Ukraine (at that point, part of the Soviet Union) they encounter a group of Cossacks led by Peter Rostoff who are willing to aid them in the pistols' recovery...provided they all can avoid capture by the Soviet Army, whose last encounter with Indy years earlier hadn't gone well...

As the caption says...
"To Be Continued"...
Next Monday!

Plotted by Ron Fortier, scripted by David Micheline, penciled by Steve Ditko, and inked by Danny Bulanadi, this first part of a two-part tale from Marvel's Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #26 (1985) isn't officially "canon".

Russkie Smashers INDIANA JONES "Trail of the Golden Guns" Chapter 1A

...and while Indy did battle Russkies in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, we thought we'd present his other Russkie-smashing adventure!
Don't worry!
The Russkies will be here soon enough!
To Be Continued...
Next Monday!

See!
Russians!
And not just one, but two factions!
Plotted by Ron Fortier, scripted by David Micheline, penciled by Steve Ditko, and inked by Danny Bulanadi, this first part of a two-part tale from Marvel's Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #26 (1985) isn't officially "canon", but it is nice to see Short Round again in a tale obviously set after Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom...

Viet-Cong Wallopers NICK FURY: AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and the HOWLING COMMANDOS "Viet Nam: the Valor and the Victory" Part 1

Confused by that title?

Just understand it's 1967, the VietNam War is well underway, and all the rest will be explained as we go, True Believer...
Admittedly, this wasn't the usual Commie-clobberin' post you're used to seeing!
But, it's Memorial Day, and we wanted to do something wild and different!
This is the second part of the feature tale from the never-reprinted Marvel's Sgt Fury and His Howling Commandos Annual #3 (1967) by writer Gary Friedrich, penciler Dick Ayers and inker John Tartaglione.
Now that the backstory's been fleshed-out, you can witness mayhem aplenty by clicking...
(So what're ya waiting for???)

Russkie-Smashers BLUE BEETLE "Rookie Trouble!"

We presented a Russkie-Smashing story featuring this character HERE...
...and, oddly, though Dan Garret had been a cop since 1940, he's still considered a "rookie"....in 1955!
This never-reprinted tale from Charlton's Blue Beetle #20 (1955) was part of the first batch of new stories about the character after several issues of reprints from the original Fox Comics run.
Penciler Ted Galindo, inker Ray Osrin, and an unknown writer treated the character as a less-powerful Superman, with most of the Man of Steel's powers and relationships transposed to Dan Garret/Blue Beetle and his supporting cast!
There are some changes in his abilities from his just-reprinted Fox Comics tales, so this may actually be a reboot, and not merely a continuation of the earlier series, though it's never clearly-defined!

Russkie-Smashers HUMAN TORCH COMICS "Atomic Ray Gun Toy Terror!"

The Human Torch's return to his own title in 1953...
...after several appearances in other books featured this tale about the perils of toy ray guns!
(I kid you not!)
Though this story from Atlas' Human Torch #36 (1953) was illustrated by Dick Ayers, Carl Burgos (the character's creator/original writer-artist) redrew both the Torch and Toro's flaming forms!
Trivia: Though a number of the 1950s Torch and Toro tales were reprinted (with minor modifications) in the 1970s (after the Comics Code loosened up), this story was too violent to reprint until the 2000s!
