MONSTER SOCIETY OF EVIL "Chapter V: Marvel Meets Mr Mind!"

...just when you think all hope is lost, something unexpected comes along!
(Note the colorist apparently doesn't read the captions!)
Note: the following two pages were composited from two different-quality sources.
Notes:
Polar bears aren't brown.
Didn't know the use of "SHAZAM!" allows for the syllables "SHA" and "ZAM" to be uttered over five minutes apart and still activate the transformation!
The running gag of Mr Mind being almost caught by Captain Marvel ran through the rest of the serial!
You'll see another example when...
...the excitement continues Monday, back at

MONSTER SOCIETY OF EVIL "Chapter IV: Glaciers Over America"

...why do I even bother?
The comic does the work for me!
Unless global warming kicks in quickly, this could be a really short serial!
The excitement continues right here on...
Before TV invaded Amercan homes in the late 1940s, movie serials were used by theatre owners to lure audiences back week after week!
And one of the most succesful ones was...Republic's Adventures of Captain Marvel!
Starring weightlifter-turned-Western star Tom Tyler (who also played The Phantom) as the Big Red Cheese, it was a non-stop thrill ride as Republic's legendary stuntmen performed feats today's wimps need CGI to pull off!
BTW, their SFX crew, the Lydecker Brothers, were no slouches, performing miracles on a shoestring budget!

MONSTER SOCIETY OF EVIL "Chapter I: the Pearl of Peril"

Writer Otto Binder and artists CC Beck & Pete Costanza created the first long-form serial for comic books...
...spanning 25 chapters in Fawcett's Captain Marvel Adventures 22-46) over two years (1943-1945)!
So, what are you waiting for?
An obvious question...why is Princess Rajabuti, a victim in this story, listed as one of the villains?
(Look at the list on the double-page spread...)
To Be Continued...
(for reasons that'll become obvious when you read it!)

SPY SMASHER "Crime of Pearl Harbor"

...on December 6th, 1941, Spy Smasher discovered a huge Japanese submarine in the waters just outside Pearl Harbor.
Unfortunately, he was captured...
(NOTE: Considered NSFW due to racial stereotypes common to the era.)
Wow!
Those last two pages were a serious attempt at propaganda/revisionist history to an impressionable young audience!
Published in early 1942, this never-reprinted tale from Fawcett's Spy Smasher #4 was created just after the events of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, so the overt racism is somewhat understandable.

SPY SMASHER "Now It Can be Told!!!"

After the sneak attack, super heroes dealt with Pearl Harbor...
...as we see in this Golden Age tale which is NSFW due to racial stereotypes common to the 1940s and World War II!
Spy Smasher is down...but not out!
Be here TOMORROW for the thrilling conclusion!
Published in early 1942, this never-reprinted tale from Fawcett's Spy Smasher #4 was created just after the events of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, so the overt racism is somewhat understadable.
