Third Reich Terrors BLUE RIBBON COMICS "Mr Justice in 'Waltz of the Vampire' "

This is actually a "two-fer", since the real (not  fake) Nazi-created vampire in this story...

...is also a werewolf!
Written by Joe Blair & illustrated by Sam Cooper, this never-reprinted tale from MLJ's Blue Ribbon Comics V1N11 (1941) was created and published in early 1941, before the USA entered World War II.
But, America's viewpoint about who the "good guys" were was obvious!
(For the record, I've never seen an American pro-Nazi comic book story, pre-war, during the war, or post-war!)

Third Reich Terrors SCORPION "Night of the Golden Fuhrer" (featuring The Golem) Conclusion

Newspaper publisher David Harper (aka the costumed adventurer known as The Scorpion) is told by his star reporter, Sara Akibah, that her father (a noted rabbi) has been kidnapped by masked figures dressed like Nazi soldiers!

She refused to call in the police, hoping her influential boss could bring in heavy-hitters like the FBI!
Harper tells her he can't do that without any evidence to show to law-enforcement.
Sara leaves, disgusted, but not before Harper plants a tracker in her purse, which proves to be a great idea when the Nazis return and grab her, since her dad refused to serve the latter-day fascists by raising their leaders from the dead!
Presented with the choice of reviving the Nazis or watching his daughter die, the Rabbi agrees to bring someone back to life...but not the dead Germans!
The clergyman from Prague performs the ritual to revive...The Golem, as he did during World War II!
Harper, as The Scorpion, encounters the creature as it emerges from the basement of Sara's house, where his tracker had gone dead!
The monster doesn't attack him...
Even if you were standing outside the newsstand/candy store all day waiting for the 4th issue of The Scorpion on June 1st, you wouldn't find it...since it was never published!
Note that while the neo-Nazis believed Rabbi Akibah could raise the dead, there aren't any stories I could find that gave a religious figure (besides Jesus Christ) the ability to do that!
The Golem, OTOH...

Third Reich Terrors SUPER-MYSTERY COMICS "Paul Revere Jr in 'Menace of the Marauding WereWolf!' "

He's a Kid Named Paul Revere Jr who hangs out with Betsy Ross and Patrick Henry!

...so you know he's gonna be running around looking for Enemies of America to battle during the dark days of World War II!
Wow!
They certainly wound up this story fast!
I suspect there's at least a full page cut from this tale, including the whole battle against the "werewolf".
The next-to last panel with its' huge word balloon certainly ain't normal for any comic!
As it is, the empty space at the bottom of the final page here originally-featured the Statement of Ownership with the circulation figures for the year...which usually takes up half a page!
(It was barely legible, so I omitted it!)
You may well ask, who's responsible for this fascinating, never-reprinted, mess of a story from Ace's Super-Mystery Comics V3N3 (1943)?
The writer is, sadly, unknown, but the artist (who did both pencils and inks) trying to emulate Golden Age Jack Kirby is none other than future legend Harvey Kurtzman!
Hey, ya gotta start somewhere!
In fact, Harvey drew this and two other features (Lash Lighting, and Mr Risk) along with the cover!
And this was his second published comic!
Good thing he gave up trying to mimic The King and go his own stylistic way!
The Paul Revere Jr strip had a fourteen-story run beginning in 1942 in Ace's Banner Comics, which became Captain Courageous Comics, then got cancelled!
He moved over to Super-Mystery Comics, where he remained until mid-1945, when he ended his term of service, never to be seen again!
Next Week:
The Golem Returns...in the 1970s, battling Nazis alongside a one-shot super-hero in that character's third issue!
Confused?
Be here next Monday to see how it actually does make sense!
